Current Work Experience:

I am currently in private practice, and have been in private practice since 1991. Since entering private practice I have concentrated my practice primarily in the area of Family Law. I have extensive experience in divorce, child custody disputes, modification of child support and child custody, paternity, legitimation and contempt issues.

It has always been my goal in the practice of law to help my clients to resolve their disputes at the earliest opportunity after we have discovered all the necessary facts and information to make a fair and equitable settlement possible. In that respect, I am very excited by the concept of Collaborative Law, as I believe it empowers the participants by involving them in all the steps of their divorce and encourages them to reach a fair settlement with the assistance of the appropriate professionals. I appreciate the ability to call on professionals (such as child specialists, financial consultants, mediators and coaches) when the parties and their attorneys determine a need, rather than having to go through the lengthy process of obtaining court approval for each step. I feel strongly that the collaborative process is an significant step in facilitating the process of divorce in a cost effective and timely manner.

Personal Information:
I am currently married and have two children, twin boys, age four (4). This gives me a great deal of insight into the emotional impact divorce and child custody disputes can have on all members of the family. I believe this gives me a great deal of empathy for all parties involved, as well as a willingness to find creative solutions, where possible. My personal experiences, as well as over a decade of family law practice, gives me a wide selection of potential solutions to common post divorce issues, and a firm grasp of the potential problems of each solution.

Previous Work Experience:

Hyatt Legal Services, Inc. (1989-1991)
I believe that my time at Hyatt Legal Services, Inc. was particularly instructive, as it introduced me to the practice of Family Law and the concept of providing legal representation at a reasonable fee. In my years at Hyatt Legal Services, Inc. I was able to handle a significant volume and wide range of cases, including representation of all types of family law matters, debtors in Bankruptcy, Landlord/Tenant matters, Debt Collections from a Defendant perspective, Guardianships, Adoptions, Wills and Estates and others.

John Tomlinson, P.C. (1987-1989)
During my employment with John Tomlinson, P.C. I was primarily engaged in commercial litigation. In addition, a significant part of the firm’s representation included foreclosure, dispossessory, and representation of Creditors in Bankruptcy.

Lamb & Associates (1984-1987)
As an associate with this firm, I was primarily engaged in all aspects of civil litigation. My employment allowed me a significant opportunity to be lead counsel in many commercial litigation matters, as well as to appear before the Georgia Court of Appeals to argue several cases.
