ELIZABETH S. HEGARTY, CPA, CFP is the President of Elizabeth S. Hegarty, CPA, P.C. Her firm provides financial consulting for divorce, assistance with income tax planning and preparation, and comprehensive financial planning services. She is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Financial Planner and is currently finishing up the requirements for the designation of Certified Divorce Planner (6/2001).

Liz has a BA in finance and an MBA in Tax and Investments. She is a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Georgia and a Board Member/Treasurer of the Collaborative Law Center of Atlanta, Inc. Liz is also a member of the GSCPA - Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the AICPA - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the IACP - International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. In her spare time she enjoys golf and going to her children's Little League and soccer games.

With over 18 years of experience in the financial world, and seeing many divorce decrees that were a disaster financially for one or both of a divorcing couple, and after experiencing first hand the litigious divorce process, she embraces the collaborative law process for divorce. Liz has found that there are many different alternatives that can be analyzed to see what the financial impact will be to both the husband and wife, including tax planning for the long term and cash flow implications depending on what stage in life the parties are currently experiencing. With small children there are even more financial decisions to be made. Her overall experience is helpful to the attorneys and the divorcing couple in managing decisions that are more of a Win-Win outcome for everyone.
